SEORanksLab

Rank tracking that tells you what changed and why.

Why It Exists

Every rank tracker answers "what" — position went up, position went down. None of the tools we used answered "why." So SEO work became ritual: change things, pray, wait two weeks, repeat.

SEORanksLab was built to close that loop: track positions and know what changed around the movement.

The Problem

Ranking data without context is noise. A drop from position 3 to 7 could mean an algorithm update, a competitor's new page, or your own edit that broke something. Without correlation, you can't tell which.

The Build

The core is event correlation: position snapshots from multiple search engines, layered with a timeline of your own content changes. When rankings move, the tool shows what else moved at the same time.

Handling the data volume taught us a lot about time-series storage — we landed on a columnar store for the tracking data after a relational database buckled at scale.

What We Learned

  • The interesting data problem is rarely collection; it's correlation and presentation.
  • SEO customers are burned out on dashboards. Tools need to output decisions, not charts.

Current State

Live. Powers our own SEO work daily — the best dogfood there is.

Frequently asked questions

What makes SEORanksLab different from other rank trackers?

Most trackers answer what — position up, position down. SEORanksLab correlates movement with your own content changes to answer why.

Which search engines are supported?

Positions are tracked across major search engines, with Google as the primary source.

Can it track competitors?

Yes — competitor movement is part of the correlation view, so you can see when a ranking change coincides with a competitor's new page.

Who is it for?

SEO teams, agencies, and founders tired of ritual SEO — changing things, praying, and waiting two weeks to learn nothing.
