Quran Radio Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy covers the Quran Radio mobile application for Android, published by SALIM TECHONOLOGIES, trading as SALIM Technologies ("we", "us"). It is separate from the policy for our website.
The short version
There are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. There is no analytics library and no crash reporting library in this app, and we operate no server that receives anything from it, so there is nowhere for your data to go. Your favourites and your recently played list never leave your phone.
The app does need the internet, because it plays live radio. Two things therefore leave your device, and both are described below rather than left out.
Information we collect
None. We do not collect, receive, store, sell or share any personal information. We have no servers that receive data from the app and no way to identify you.
What stays on your device
Your favourites and your recently played list are stored as lists of station identifiers in the app's private storage, where other apps cannot read them. So is the station catalogue itself, which ships inside the app. None of it is uploaded, because there is nowhere to upload it to, and uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
What leaves your device
The radio stations
When you press play, your phone connects directly to that station's streaming server. That server belongs to the broadcaster or their host, not to us. Like any server you connect to, it can see your IP address, the approximate region that implies, and the fact that something connected and listened.
No app can avoid this: it is how listening to internet radio works, here or anywhere else. We do not receive any of it, we cannot see it, and those operators' own privacy practices are their own. While something is playing, the app also asks that same server what is currently on, so it can show you the surah where the station announces one. That is one small request to a server your phone is already streaming from, and it introduces no new party.
Radio Browser
Some stations come from Radio Browser, a free, community-run directory. Their terms ask that an app report a "click" when one of their stations is played, so that their popularity data stays meaningful for everyone who relies on the directory. We honour that.
Playing a station that came from their directory sends that station's identifier to all.api.radio-browser.info. The request identifies a radio station, not you: it carries no identifier of ours, no advertising ID, and nothing linkable back to a person beyond the IP address any web request necessarily carries. It happens at most once per station per time you open the app, and never for the majority of stations, which come from other sources.
Permissions
- Internet, to play radio.
- Notifications (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS), to show playback controls on your lock screen and in your notification shade. On Android this is also what keeps playback alive when the screen is off: without an active media notification the system stops background audio after a few minutes. If you decline it the app still plays, but only while it is open. - Foreground service, media playback, the Android mechanism behind the above.
The app explicitly declines permissions it will never need, including location, microphone, contacts and storage. They are blocked in the app's manifest rather than merely left unused.
Third parties
Quran Radio contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no third-party SDK that receives your data. The only servers it contacts are the stations you choose to play and the Radio Browser directory described above.
If you install Quran Radio from Google Play, Google processes the download under its own policies. We receive only the aggregate, anonymous statistics Google shows to any developer, such as install counts.
The recitation itself
We do not host, record, store or redistribute any recitation. The app connects you to a broadcaster's live stream, the way a radio tunes to a frequency. Each station is operated by whoever owns it.
Children
Quran Radio is suitable for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, including children, and contains no ads and no purchases.
Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export, correct or delete. Your favourites and history are under your control on your device: remove them in the app, or remove everything by uninstalling it.
Changes to this policy
If a future version adds anything that changes what leaves your device, we will update this policy and the Google Play Data safety disclosure before that version ships. Adding an analytics, attribution or advertising library would be exactly such a change, and we do not intend to add one.
